Dr Elisabeth Staunton

Elisabeth is a registered Doctor of Chinese Medicine, having graduated from Victoria University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Chinese Medicine – Acupuncture and Herbs (Hons). As an Acupuncturist and a Chinese Herbal practitioner, Elisabeth’s practice is based in Eastern philosophy, and she has a background in other holistic therapies. She is passionate about the benefits of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the important roles they have to play in contemporary health care.

As part of her clinical internship, Elisabeth spent time in the Shuguang Teaching Hospital in Shanghai, China, in the Internal Medicine, Acupuncture, Gynaecology and Oncology departments, witnessing how Western Medicine and Chinese Medicine were integrated successfully to achieve better health outcomes. After graduating, Elisabeth spent some time volunteering for community Acupuncture programs whilst establishing her own private practice in Yarraville and Williamstown.

Elisabeth has a special interest in identifying the underlying causes of an illness, and through history-taking and consultation provides treatment plans for patients to help them achieve their health care goals. She consults on a wide range of conditions in practice including chronic pain, musculoskeletal issues, allergies, women’s health, migraines, and stress management. In addition to Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, Elisabeth uses other TCM techniques as needed. These include moxibustion, cupping, gua sha and acupressure. Placing a strong emphasis on Chinese Medicine dietary and lifestyle advice (Yang Sheng), she provides adjustments that patients can adopt at home to help with their treatment.
